“The Lone Earth” Eco Club



Agricultural University of Georgia founded of an eco-club “The Lone Earth”
within the framework of Shota Rustaveli National Scientific Foundation
funded 2017 competition “Science Begins from School – Research with
Participation of Schoolchildren” in N64 Tbilisi State School. The eco club
was formed with active support of St. Ilia the Right Tbilisi school of
Patriarchate of Georgia and CENN.



On the first meeting of the club, schoolchildren have attended lecture of
PhD student Ilia Kunchulia from Agricultural University of Georgia. He
presented “Soil as Pride of the Nation” and talked about soil as special
phenomenon of nature, peculiarities of its formation and distribution in the
country, problems of soil degradation and protection.



In addition, CENN representative, Vano Gioshvili talked about Niko
Ketskhoveli school competition “Discover Georgia”. The competition aims to
facilitate environmental protection activities, including planting trees and
shrubs, photo competitions, large scale surveys in schools, forming new
tourist paths, etc.

Club meetings will be held in every 2 weeks. The next meeting will be on the
protected areas of Georgia.
