Hi,
Do you know how avalanches happen? It can be as simple as a few balls of snow coming together, rolling down a mountain, picking up speed and more snow on their way down. [1]
From something so small, the outcome can be massive.
This week our avalanche can be a win for climate, and for you, Vladimir.
Right now, there are 3 Members of European Parliament (MEPs) who hold a lot of power.
We’ve kept the pressure high on these MEPs. We’ve called them, tweeted them, emailed them. And now we have one last trick up our sleeve before this final vote.
We want to plaster the faces of these MEPs all over the internet and on the streets of their hometowns. Knowing that people across Europe know them and are potentially linking them to fossil fuel companies could be the last push they need to stand up to the fossil fuel lobby. It only takes a few minutes to print, display and share.

Iratxe García, Eider Gardiazabal Rubial and Lidia Pereira either lead or “whip” two key parties. [3] This means it’s their job to get the members of their parties to vote in line with what they are saying. This is why they hold so much power right now.
If they tell their groups to vote for a truly ‘green’ recovery, leaving behind the fossil fuel companies, many more MEPs will vote like that. And it’s those extra votes that we need to win the final battle.
Bilbao, Coimbra and Lisbon. These are towns that are important to these women and places where they are known well. WeMove Europe volunteers living in these cities are going to be plastering them with our posters, as well as sharing the posters with local media and on social media. And this is where you and I can join forces, to really get this avalanche rolling.
Seeing images of their faces in their home towns could be enough to make these MEPs stop and think. But as European politicians, knowing that people all over Europe recognise them and depend on their vote will be the extra push they need to join us and make the win for climate finally happen.

Two weeks ago, we were winning. A key group of MEPs voted for billions from the recovery funds to be used to transform our economies and lead our planet along a more sustainable path, thanks to the actions of thousands of WeMove members tweeting, emailing and calling them.
But, under the influence of heavy lobbying from gas and oil industries, many other important MEPs are now planning to vote in favour of fossil fuels. Together we can still turn things around if we all take action. When you have printed and displayed your poster, take a picture, share on social media and ask a friend to take action, too.
In solidarity,
David (London), Virginia (Madrid), Olga (Bologna),
Mika (Bordeaux) and the entire WeMove Europe team
