City of Vienna offers 1,000 secured jobs for young people
The city of Vienna is offering more than 1,000 jobs with guaranteed
employment
Vienna (pte024/07.03.2013/14:40) - The city of Vienna is offering more than
1,000 job traineeships with guaranteed employment on completion in a bid to
boost employment in the city in 2013.
The majority of the traineeships are in the health and social sector but
there are also traineeships available at the Viennese public transport
operator, Wiener Linien, and the supermarket chain Interspar.
The traineeships will be distributed in cooperation with WAFF -a Viennese
organisation which supports employees in training and employment
possibilities and the AMS - the Austrian Employment Service.
Renate Brauner from the SPÖ, who is a councillor for finance and economy
said applicants who successfully finish the training phase, which varies in
length according to the placement, will automatically land themselves a job
with the company in question.
Vienna city council is looking for a total of 849 people to start
traineeships in the social and health sector this year (2013) - of which 300
places have already been allocated.
The duration of the training will vary depending on the specific job
position - from three and a half months for an assistant in a retirement
home to three years for a qualified nurse.
The gross salary for the former is 1,630 Euros a month, for the latter,
1,900 Euros a months for entry level positions.
The company Wiener Linien, which manages all public transport networks in
the Austrian capital, are looking for 96 station guards, train and metro
drivers. The starting gross salary after three months of training is 1,570
Euros.
The private supermarket chain Interspar is looking for 100 retail merchants
to work in various delicatessen departments.
WAFF-director Fritz Meißt hopes to encourage further private companies to
join the programme in the future.
Not only does the organisation manage the application and selection process
on behalf of the firms, they also inject the necessary funds to cover the
costs of training.
The Austrian job centre covers expenses during the unpaid training-phase in
the form of a grant equivalent to 20 Euros a day.
