Presentation of the Forest sector survey


On Friday, September 27, at 15:00, CENN together with the National Forestry
Agency will conduct a presentation of their Forest sector survey.


The survey, which is on the current situation of forest management and its
impact on the community, was carried out in 1933 villages in 7 regions of
Georgia. The main goal of the survey is to define forest resources demand,
and identify forest management issues and their impact on different aspects
of life for local populations.


The model of public forest monitoring and reports on different regions,
prepared according to this model, will be introduced to representatives of
Government bodies, non-government organizations, academic institutions, and
international and private organizations.


The presentation will take place in the conference hall of the Ministry of
Environment Protection and Natural Resources of Georgia.


The survey on the current situation of forest management and its impact on
communities was prepared in the framework of the “Sustainable Forest
Governance in Georgia” project together with National Forestry Agency and in
close cooperation with local governments. “Sustainable Forest Governance in
Georgia” is implemented by CENN with financial support from the Austrian
Development Agency (ADA).
