Justice for Atomic Blast Downwinders and Uranium Workers
Before the Clock Runs
Out...
|
|
Dear
Vladimir,
It's
past time for Congress to provide compensation
for the grievous injustices of atomic
testing. Downwinders of US atomic bomb
blasts and uranium miners, drillers, and workers
involved in 'clean up' after the blasts have
suffered for decades but have not been
compensated for their medical
expenses.
For
years, US atomic activities during the Cold War
contaminated communities and exposed people,
livestock, and food crops to toxic, long-lasting
radiation, but only some of those downwinders
received health compensation through the 1990
Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA). All
downwinders, uranium and cleanup workers also
need compensation for their
sacrifices.
Congress
MUST renew RECA before it expires in July 2022,
and expand it to include all victims of US
nuclear activities.
If
your Senator or Representatives have already
co-sponsored RECA, tell them "Thank You" and
encourage them to pass the bill before the clock
runs out.

Thank
you and be well,
