Publication of annual report and statistics of European Court of Human Rights for 2019.

The Court has published its annual activity report and statistics for 2019. At the close of 2019 the number of application pending before the Court totaled 59,800. The 2019 statistics show that the number of new cases has risen on account of an increase in applications against Bosnia-Herzegovina, the Russian Federation, Turkey and Ucraine.

During the year the Court delivered 884 judgements and 38,480 applications were declared inadmissible or struck out of the list by a single judge, a three-judge Committee or a Chamber.

At 31 December 2019 the majority of pending cases were against the Russian Federation (25,2%), followed by Turkey (15,5%), Ukraine (14,8%), Romania (13,2%), and Italy (5,1%).
