Three-Day Trainings with Local Working Groups (LWGs) in Sagarejo and Kaspi
Municipalities



Aiming to build capacity and develop advocacy skills of local working groups
(LWGs) in order to advocate on behalf of local community, a three-day
training was conducted for Sagarejo and Kaspi Municipalities.



The training was held on 16-18 and 19-21 February within the framework of
CENN’s regional project Promoting Environmental and Social Accountability in
the Mining Sector in the Caucasus and discussed advocacy, lobbing and
monitoring issues.



Additionally, it emphasized the importance of cooperation and communication
among different parties (the local government, businesses, schools, etc.) to
resolve unfair or harmful situations affecting people in the community.



Several issues for effective advocacy were highlighted during the trainings,
including identification of problems, the power of the advocates,
representing the interests of people with disabilities and their families,
the importance of media outreach and the selection of effective strategies
and tactics



Teams brought forward their ideas, identified local problems and target
groups, set initiatives, and prepared public mobilization and advocacy
plans.



The same trainings will be conducted for LWGs mobilized in Kvemo Kartli and
Adjara, and in Tkibuli and Chiatura municipalities in order to help LWGs in
target regions acquire the skills necessary for effective advocacy.
