Students Create Better Future for Their
Communities
EDKK Micro-grant community project implementation has
successfully finished.
Students from Dmanisi, Tsintkaro, Koda, Sagarejo and
Shaumiani schools
solved community problems through their
activities.
Through these micro
projects:
*
School library got new books in
Koda;
* YFC members
created space for their meetings and activities in
Sagarejo and
Tsintskaro;
* Students
from Dmanisi schools got involved in sportive activities.
Besides, glee club
was created, which performed in catering canteen for the
elderlies for
free;
* Shaumiani school
students created green space in their schoolyard.
They also cleaned the
environment and set a big litterbin in front of the
school, at the river
with the help of local government.
“We are So happy that our work
and desire has such a good results. At the
beginning, we were doubting, that
our ideas would come true, but with the
help of EDKK staff, we did
everything we planed– Said Ana, YFC member.
Meanwhile students
learned project writing, planning and implementation of
community
activities, working in social networks, they became more
self-confident,
motivated and gained leadership skills.
One of the main
objectives of the project Economic Development through
Agricultural
Assistance for IDP Farmers in Kvemo Kartli and Kakheti regions
(EDKK) is to
encourage young people to get involved in agro-entrepreneurship
and
community development. To fulfil this aim, Young Farmers Centers (YFCs)
were
created to teach young people leadership skills, new farming techniques
and
community engagement in order to cultivate future farmers and active
citizens. YFCs bring together local and IDP students. EDKK project is
funded by German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development
(BMZ) and supported by World Vision Germany.
