Dear colleagues,
The Water Convention Secretariat, in collaboration with the lead Parties Estonia and Slovenia, and a drafting group, is currently developing a Guidance note for the implementation of source-to-sea management in transboundary basins.
An outline of the Guidance Note, available here, will be presented at the 10th Meeting of the Parties to the Water Convention (Ljubljana, 23-25 October 2024). The Meeting of the Parties is expected to mandate the lead Parties, Secretariat and drafting group to proceed with the preparation of the Guidance note.
It is envisioned to finalize the Guidance Note between November 2024 and May 2025, and to support this process, we are seeking successful examples of source-to-sea management in transboundary basins.
If you have relevant case studies, we kindly invite you to submit them via this form: https://forms.office.com/e/udRUfuwmNf. Please submit your case studies by Friday, 15 November 2024, to ensure they can be incorporated into the final Guidance Note.
The final Guidance Note will be presented at the third United Nations Ocean Conference (Nice, France, 9-13 June 2025) and at the 20th meeting of the Working Group on Integrated Water Resources Management (Geneva, 13-15 October 2025)

Le Secrétariat de la Convention sur l'eau, en collaboration avec les Parties chefs de file, l'Estonie et la Slovénie, et un groupe de rédaction, élabore actuellement une Note d'orientation pour la mise en œuvre de la gestion de la source à la mer dans les bassins transfrontaliers.
Un aperçu de la note d'orientation, disponible ici, sera présenté lors de la 10e réunion des parties à la Convention sur l'eau (Ljubljana, 23-25 octobre 2024). La réunion des Parties devrait mandater les Parties chefs de file et le groupe de rédaction pour procéder à la préparation de la note d'orientation.
Il est envisagé de finaliser la note d'orientation entre novembre 2024 et mai 2025, et pour soutenir ce processus, nous recherchons des exemples réussis de gestion de la source à la mer dans les bassins transfrontaliers.
Si vous disposez d'études de cas pertinentes, nous vous invitons à les soumettre via ce formulaire : https://forms.office.com/e/udRUfuwmNf. Veuillez soumettre vos études de cas avant le vendredi 15 novembre 2024, afin qu'elles puissent être incorporées dans la note d'orientation finale.
La note d'orientation finale sera présentée à la troisième conférence des Nations unies sur les océans (Nice, France, 9-13 juin 2025) et à la 20e réunion du groupe de travail sur la gestion intégrée des ressources en eau (Genève, 13-15 octobre 2025).

Секретариат Водной конвенции в сотрудничестве с ведущими Сторонами - Эстонией и Словенией, а также редакционной группой, в настоящее время разрабатывает Руководство по реализации управления стоками из источника в море в трансграничных бассейнах.
Набросок Руководства, доступный здесь, будет представлен на 10-м Совещании Сторон Конвенции по трансграничным водам (Любляна, 23-25 октября 2024 г.). Ожидается, что Совещание Сторон поручит ведущим Сторонам и редакционной группе приступить к подготовке Руководства.
Предполагается завершить работу над Руководством в период с ноября 2024 года по май 2025 года, и для поддержки этого процесса мы ищем успешные примеры управления стоками из источника в море в трансграничных бассейнах.

La Secretaría del Convenio del Agua, en colaboración con las Partes principales, Estonia y Eslovenia, y un grupo de redacción, está elaborando actualmente una Nota de orientación para la aplicación de la gestión del agua desde el manantial hasta el mar en cuencas transfronterizas.
Un esbozo de la Nota de orientación, disponible aquí, se presentará en la 10ª Reunión de las Partes del Convenio del Agua (Liubliana, 23-25 de octubre de 2024). Se espera que la Reunión de las Partes otorgue mandato a las Partes líderes y al grupo de redacción para proceder a la preparación de la Nota de orientación.
Se prevé finalizar la Nota de orientación entre noviembre de 2024 y mayo de 2025, y para apoyar este proceso, estamos buscando ejemplos exitosos de gestión del agua desde el manantial hasta el mar en cuencas transfronterizas.
Si tiene estudios de caso relevantes, le invitamos a que los envíe a través de este formulario: https://forms.office.com/e/udRUfuwmNf. Le rogamos que envíe sus estudios de caso antes del viernes 15 de noviembre de 2024, para garantizar que puedan incorporarse a la Nota de orientación final.
