Today, at the
C40 World Mayors Summit, newly-announced C40
Chair-elect Eric Garcetti and mayors from around
the world set forth an ambitious vision for a Global Green New
Deal alongside trade union, youth,
citizen and business leaders.
By supporting
a Global Green New
Deal, the world’s most influential
cities are pledging to build the coalition
necessary to deliver environmental and economic
justice together - to protect our communities,
strengthen our economies, and build a more
equitable future. Where too many national
governments have failed to raise ambition, cities
are taking ambitious and inclusive climate action
to the next level.

it comes to climate action, no one is doing more
than cities, but no one is doing enough. We are
entering a make-or-break decade for the
preservation of our planet and environmental
justice for every community — and I am proud to
lead C40 cities at this critical moment. Together
