Clean Up Action has been Carried Out on Earth Day in Bolnisi Municipality



On 24 April 2017, “Earth Day” Week in Bolnisi municipality was marked by
carrying out clean up action within the framework of the campaign "Clean Up
Georgia." The event was organized by the local coordinator of the Greens
Movement of Georgia / Friends of the Earth Georgia with support and
participation of local authorities, representatives of Ltd. "Communal
Farming" and Kvemo Kartli Forest Service Department and №2 Public School
pupils.



Within the scope of the action the neighborhoods of School №2 , access
routes to the river Mashavera in village Chapala, as well as sections of the
central road from village Kvemo Bolnisi to village Poladauri were cleaned
up. Around 4 hectares of land and approximately 11 m3 of waste were
collected. Around 100 volunteers took part in this event.



Clean up action in Bolnisi municipality has been conducted within the
framework of the project “Clean Up Georgia” (Phase III) and implemented by
NGO consortium Greens Movement of Georgia/Friends of the Earth Georgia,
Georgian Society of Nature Explorers “Orchis, “Ecological Awareness and
Waste Management” with financial support of Swedish Government and in
collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources
Protection of Georgia and Solid Waste Management Company.
