Use your Power to Change Climate Change



The Results of the School Competition

On March 28, 2015, at 20.30 local time, the world celebrates Earth Hour.

CENN, along with WWF and the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources
Protection of Georgia, will celebrate Earth Hour with the message: Use Your
Power to Change Climate Change.

In honor of Earth Hour 2015, CENN announced a regional school competition of
posters from March 10-17 on the following topic: Sustainable Use of Mineral
Resources in our Region.

Pupils from the regions of Kakheti, Shida Kartli, Kvemo Kartli, Imereti and
Adjara – Georgia participated in the competition. There were 22 winners
chosen from the regional schools listed below:



1. N1 Public School of Chiatura;

2. N2 Public School of Chiatura;

3. Perevisa Public School of Chiatura Municipality;

4. Itkhvisi Public School of Chiatura Municipality;

5. N7 Public School of Tkibuli;

6. N1 Public School of Tkibuli;

7. Zvare Public School of Kharagauli Municipality;

8. Atskuri Public School of Akhmeta Municipality;

9. N4 Public School of Sagarejo Municipality;

10. Kazreti’s N1 Public School of Bolnisi Municipality;

11. N2 Public School of Rustavi;

12. N8 Public School of Gori;

13. N4 Public School of Gori;

14. N1 Public School of Khelvachauri Municipality;

15. „Parnavazi” School of Kobuleti Municipality.



The posters presented by the participants describe the negative and positive
aspects related to the use of mineral resources in the regions.

The authors of the best posters will take part in a Green Campaign organized
by CENN at the Bulachauri Green Center from March 27-29, 2015.



Earth Hour is a worldwide initiative that takes place annually to raise
awareness of citizens towards the need to take action on climate change and
global warming, and to support the responsibilities taken by world leaders
on Green Gas Emissions. This year’s initiative unites over 162 participant
countries and during one hour landmarks of global historic, cultural,
economic and political significance will switch off their lights.



The School Campaign is implemented within CENN’s regional project Promoting
Environmental and Social Accountability in the mining sector in the
Caucasus. The goal of the project is to reduce poverty, enhance
environmental and social security and foster sustainable rural development.
The project is being implemented with the financial support of the German
fund Bread for the World.
