Hi,

It’s such an exciting time for the WeMove community! We just took part in our first ever election, and despite the extreme right and their allies using disinformation to try and divide us, our movement is emerging stronger and stronger. [1]

Here’s a little thank you message from our team:

Our work gained media coverage in major European and international news outlets including Spiegel – which has the highest magazine readership in Europe - Deutsche Welle, Le Monde, Euronews, Euractiv, the New York Times, CNN, NPR, The Guardian, Al Jazeera, among others.

We helped build a strong coalition of organisations that will now keep working to build on the success of the elections and make sure we have an EU Parliament that puts people and planet first.

And it’s not just the elections we’ve been throwing our campaigning weight behind...

H&M CEO Karl-Johan Persson, and our partners at the Clean Clothes Campaign

Five years ago H&M committed to paying living wages to textile workers but never came good on their promise. [2] We joined the Clean Clothes Campaign network and more than 180,000 of us who care about the well-being of those who make H&M's clothes signed our joint petition.

We also sent thousands of direct messages to shareholders and in the run-up to H&M’s Annual General Assembly, we met Mr Persson, H&M's CEO. But H&M is still resisting, and we’re planning our next move. Together we’ve made great progress and won’t give up!

And we’ve been working to save the Kresna gorge!

From left: Ms Helena Braun Member of the Cabinet of the First Vice-President Timmermans - responsible for sustainability, Laura Sullivan Director of WeMove Europe, and our partners from Friends of the Earth Bulgaria and Europe and CEE Bankwatch

We joined locals who have been fighting for 20 years to save this magical river valley in Bulgaria from construction. The Bulgarian authorities have broken EU laws to allow the devastating construction of a motorway, that would destroy the Kresna gorge.[3]

So we brought local activists to Brussels to share their story of what is happening; armed with a video we produced showing the beauty of the gorge, and support from this community who flooded the inbox of European Commissioners, we were able to help secure a meeting with a key advisor to the First Vice-President of the EU Commission, Frans Timmermans. And she promised they’d look into this case further.

But again, we’re not stopping! To help them look into this, our partners are compiling evidence that will be sent to the Commission to help them make their decision -- and hopefully, they will intervene and save this majestic gorge!

This is just a small taste of the things we’ve been working on these past few months, there’s so much more we could tell you - and we will soon! So much credit and thanks are due to the dozens of partner organisations we work with to plan and deliver these calls. But we wouldn’t be able to do any of this without you, our community, who engage again and again in our campaigns and support new tactics with your donations.

Now, with a new Parliament about to sit, and new Commissioners on their way, it’s up to us to make sure they know what matters to people across Europe. Help us keep this great work going by chipping in what you can:

DONATE!

As always, if you have any ideas for things we should be doing or any feedback, you can email us at in...@wemove.eu

Thank you!

Olga (Bologna), Jörg (Lübeck), Virginia (Madrid), and the rest of us at WeMove.EU

P.S: And special thanks to all our No to hate, Yes to change partner organisations around Europe.
