Have you heard the news? Dow’s brain-harming pesticide chlorpyrifos has been banned in Europe -- thanks to SumOfUs members like you! Even after the European Food Safety Authority warned that this neurotoxic chemical was a serious danger to human health -- and especially children -- its makers lobbied hard to keep it legal in the EU. But in the end, the EU listened to over 220,000 other SumOfUs members and passed a long-overdue ban on the pesticide, effective at the end of this month! Together with our partners in HEAL, Generations Futures, Ecologistas en Acción and the Pesticide Action Network, we’ve made Europe’s fruits and vegetables safer for kids to eat -- and proven to Dow’s lobbyists that their millions are no match for our people power. It’s a great way to kick off the year, but we’re not going to stop there. We’ve got big plans to take on pesticide corporations in 2020, from banning bee-harming chemicals like sulfoxaflor to finally getting the cancer-linked weedkiller glyphosate out of our food. And with amazing members like you on board, we can do it all.
