heat – Cornerstone in EU Green Deal & Fit for 55

Hereby an invitation for an important webinar organised by
INFORSE-Europe. Please register at the link below.
With the crunch step
of the EU Green Deal, the “Fit for 55” plans expected in July, we at
INFORSE-Europe are inviting to a webinar to discuss how to realise one
cornerstone of the plans: a fast decarbonisation of heating. The “fit for 55”
plans shall set the course for realisation of EU’s ambitious 55% greenhouse gas
reduction target until 2030 The webinar will feature four speakers that will
cover key proposals for realising the decarbonisation:
•
Joerg Muehlenhoff, Climate Action Network Europe, will present the Paris
Agreement Compatible (PAC) Scenario for 65% reduction of greenhouse gases in the
EU until 2030, where he will focus on the heating part. The PAC scenario is
developed by a number of civil society organisations with expert assistance and
is the most significant proposal from the environmental movement to reduce
emissions to cope with the climate crisis.
• Jakob
Worm, PlanEnergy, will present proposals for decarbonisation with Heat Plan
Europe, a project to move from fossil fuels to renewable heating with a
combination of local solutions (heat pumps, solar) and heating networks for
cities, supplied by a whole range of renewables including geothermal heating as
well as waste heat of many forms.
• Davide
Sabbadin, European Environmental Bureau will present a proposal for phasing out
the fossil heating with the existing EU ecodesign regulation. The regulation can
be revised to require higher energy efficiency of heating sources than it is
possible with fossil fuel boilers, leaving the market for the more efficient
heat pumps and solar.
• Gunnar Boye Olesen,
INFORSE-Europe, will sum up the proposals and kick-off a discussion of how the
EU can realise the space and water heating part of the needed reductions of EU
emissions.
The webinar will conclude with a 30-minute interactive discussion,
including inputs from participants and an online vote on the most important
proposals to realise the fast decarbonisation of heating.
