Training in Samtskhe – Javakheti State University



Within the Empowering Modern Research Practices of the Regional
Agriculture-Related Institutions Programme



Training in Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) was conducted by CENN in
Samtskhe – Javakheti State University on 18 April 2016, for university
professors and students. The training consisted of two parts; the first part
covered the general theoretical basis of Climate Smart Agriculture and its
major components. The second part involved more practical thematic
approaches, where both economic and environmental advantages of drip
irrigation systems, mulching, fertigation, etc. were discussed.



The University was presented with a wide range of literature, including
presentations, which will further enable the institution to carry out
detailed studies in CSA.



GIPA, with the support of CENN and PMC RC, facilitates the institutional
capacity-building programme, Empowering Modern Research Practices of the
Regional Agriculture-Related Institutions, which is funded by the European
Neighbourhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD). It
aims to build the capacity of regional universities through trainings and
joint research into key problem areas in the regions of Kakheti, Adjara and
Samtskhe-Javakheti.
