Russian law allows people to be "tried"
after their deaths so that their names can be cleared
if new evidence arises. But now, Russian police are
planning on submitting charges of tax evasion against a
man who has been dead for three years.

Sergei Magnitsky and his family have already
undergone enough injustice. In 2008, Magnitsky, an
accountant, was arrested by Russian officials for
investigating fraud against the state itself. After
being held in the notoriously overcrowded Butyrka
prison for almost a year without a trial, Magnitsky
died.

While in prison, Magnitsky received inadequate
medical care for his pancreatitis and gall bladder
problems. A human rights council found that he was
beaten severely just before his death.

His family has already suffered immensely at
the hands of their government -- there is no reason for him to be put on
trial now for tax evasion.

This trial makes a mockery of the Russian
justice system. Ask the government to drop it
immediately!
