Do you grow vegetables, herbs, or other beneficial plants?
Do you have self-saved seed, or those little half-packets of seed left over
from last year's exuberant catalog purchases?
Bring 'em on down!
Here's a chance to swap seed with your gardening neighbors.
We'll emphasize functional plants (dyes, fibers, soil
builders, medicinals, etc) over ornamentals. And we'll give
seeds which are known to be GMO-free a special place within the offerings.
Bring envelopes to carry your bounty home, plus a pencil for
labeling. All are welcome to participate, even if you don't have seed
to contribute to the swap. (Some of us have way too much, plus we have
some donated seed to get the swap going).
The discussion part of the evening will focus on why heirloom and open-
pollinated varieties are important. We'll talk about what GMOs do to
jeopardize the diversity and resilience of our food supply.
If you have friends who might be interested in this event, please feel
free to forward this email.
Oh, and as you browse those 2008 seed catalogs, take careful note as
to which companies have taken the Safe Seed Pledge to be GMO-free.
More info about this and other seed topics is in the resources on our
