Yes, the drunkard was alpha 3, which I've been looking to see if anybody had
as well. I came onboard with Entombed during alpha 7, and actually still
have several of those old alphas and betas, at least the final bug-fixed
version of the series (I.E. alphas 7, 8d, 9.5, betas 1.4, 1.46, 2.42, 2.52,
and the full releases of 1, 1.0.1, 1.02i, 1.02k, and 1.05b).
I actually had alpha 7 installed on an older, backup machine a few months
back, and did I have fun getting my guys' feet hacked off and replaced with
enemy hands. But that machine had no other software that relied on .Net 3.0,
so I was able to uninstall those full releases and put on that Entombed
alpha and got it working. Unfortunately, that machine is now in computer
heaven. I probably could try putting alpha 7 on the machine I now have as my
backup unit, since I built a new on, but I don't have the energy to tinker
around with uninstalling frameworks at the moment.

And of course, if anybody has alpha 3, I'd be glad to take a copy off your
hands to add to my collection.

The dreaded program bug!
Yes, I'm afraid this is a bug. jason is aware of it, and it's on the list of
things that need fixing.
Beware the grue!

If however they are single scrolls then your stuck.
as to potions, that is a little trickier sinse you might drink one, and it
has no effect sinse you've just drunk a cure poison potion without being
poisoned or similar, still it's worth a try.
This bug only happens with stuff you get as quest rewards, not with stuff
you find in the dungeon.
Where in your inventory did you look? If they are unidentified weapons they
may not show up in the weapons catagory, so you might be better looking on
the main list.
Btw, 3 legendary unidentified weapons? wow! I don't believe it, unlocking
actually got something good for once!

Well i hope it'll help. There is no denying that entombed is still in many
ways a hard game. Some of it's difficulty is to do with one or two balancing
points that could possibly be addressed in a future revision, but a lot more
is simply that it requires strategical thinking and a good knolidge of the
various skills, jobs, and other factors involved.
That's where I hope the handbook will at least be helpful.

When I find them, if they're worth $2 or something small like that I just
sell them at the general store, likewise if they're worth $20 or more I keep
them and just try them on an enemy if they're a scroll and on my chars if
they're potions. I tried using an unidentifyed scroll on one of my chars
before and it turned out to be a fire scroll, it nearly killed the char I
tried it out on, so I've never tried using one of those scrolls on my chars
ever again.
Also, I'm currently on level 4 and trying to complete my first quest which
is to kill a ratking and his group [a group of 4 including the ratking I'm
after], only thing is, I've tried it four times already and in those four
times have only been able to kill one or two at most before my main char or
both of them get killed. Once my second char got charmed and went over to
their side so I quit the game and another time my pet wolf got charmed and
went over to their side so I quit that as well.
What I'd like to know is, why is it when you press 8 to aim at an enemy
chars head and press enter to fire ice blast as it might be, why is it that
most of them times the ice blast hit's the enemy char in the foot, leg, arm
but never in the head and also, my char has ice blast at 4/5, but when he
hit's one of the four enemy char in my quest in the head, he does 20 to 30
points damage but the enemy char never dies, only get slightly injured or
major injury, but never dead? With any other char I use ice blast on and get
that rate of damage, they're pulverized?

As to the drake, actually just about any scroll that will reduce the chance
of it attacking you is valuable in that fight. jason had to up the
resistance to charm, sleep and paralize, sinse people were just using those
and getting through far too easily, ---- though I think paralize can
sometimes still work if your lucky, But anything that reduces the drake's
attack power or chance to hit you will help. Curse is fantastic to use,
minimizing the drake's damage while upping the damage it takes. Slow and
shrink are usually good to use too, particularly sinse I believe from what
i've seen the damage of breathe fire is directly linked to size. Confusion
is also helpful, sinse the drake will miss more often and sometimes even hit
itself, pluss confusion nearly always works.
Of course any techniques or spells that have the possibility of putting the
drake out of action temporarily are good to use as well, I once for instance
defeated the drake by playing an ogre brawler and constantly using bash to
knock the drake down so that on it's turn the drake kept having to stand up
(though this only works with an ogre sized character).
Conversely, of course you want to use anything that will help your party
such as haste, regenerate, focus etc.
Mainly though that should be your stratogy in the drake fight, trying to
stop the drake from damaging you while you chip away at it's health and
hefty armour, rather than looking for ways to hurt the drake.
Even the most successful damage stratogy I've found, a necro with level 5
iceblast in the head, or an assassin equipped with hard weapons doing a
sneak with crytical hits will take some time to ware the drake down, which
is why things like regeneration, heal, haste, and using the tactical hide
option can be so helpful in that fight, as well as trying to keep the drake
from acting as much as possible.
