Content deletion after import (HotFolder)

Hi,

I am new user of EMShare and trying to figure out how EMShare works and i have done some configuration and EMShare really works well, but i have a question about EMShare -
Is it possible to delete Assets from HotFolder after import and conversion, is there any way or any script exist in EMShare...

You want to delete the originals after the import is complete?

Risky! What if you want to reconvert the original again?

What I would do is create a scheduled script. It would search for any assets marked as importstatus: complete and then delete the original if I found it. Then I would create a new status field to track if the original is deleted already.

Hi Christopher,

I guess, after importing and converting a asset Emshare keeps assets on three locations/Directories - 1. Originals, 2. Generated 3. Public, So Emshare keeps original assets under Originals directory ( i have doubt when i upload asset on hotfolder then it doesn't use originals directory to keep original assets but uses hotfolder to keep original file, is it so?) , so whats the point to keep original asset on two locations?
we don't want to keep original files on 2 different directories which will just consume double space on storage box.

It does not keep multiple copies.

1. For Hot Folders it leaves the Original where it found it.

2. For uploads it keeps the original in the WEB-INF/data/media/catalogs/originals/users/admin/2013/xxx

Not sure what Public folder you are thinking about.

Hi Christopher,

I have also a question about deletion from HotFolder. In my case, when I deleted some media files from my HotFolder, I cannot import them by the same way on the HotFolder again.
so I have to access into ../public/assets/myHotFolder/ to delete the folders generated previously importing the media files, then it could be possible to upload the same files from HotFolder again.
I have no idea whether it is special case to me. How could I resolve this problem?

Hello,

Yes that is a know situation. The system only checks once every few days for returned files. You can override by editing your Hot Folder from settings and removing the Modified File Check date and saving.

Hi,

we decide not delete original asset from HotFolder but will keep original in different directory so we have created an script which will move assets in different directory.

Now we are having issue in deleting asset from frontend, we are unable to delete error assets, after deleting they still exist on frontend and some of them gets deleted automatically after sometime, so is there any scripts which runs and delete assets which has been marked to delete, also can you add an option to delete multiple assets directly from the Home page.
