Dear Sem 2 students,

Deepti Joshi asked: In unit 2 "A New Computer-assisted Literature Criticism" in which Raymond Siemens talks about two electronic models-dynamic and hypertextual so I tried to get meaning by differentiating both as explanation is given in given materials but still I couldn't get it. So what is the basic different between both??explanation is given at page :265 in given materials.”

Here is the explanation:

Hypertextual electronic edition of text – it means the text which is linked with other material, dictionary, web resources etc. The reader can click/tap on the word and read more on it or find meaning of the word. Example: Wikipedia.

Dynamic electronic edition of text – it means a specifically designed software (programme) is packaged with text to help reader in analyzing the text.

Example: MS Office word helps in counting words, helps in grammar and spelling errors etc. Internet browsers (Chrome, explorer, Mozilla etc) also gives pluggins to see reference, meaning etc of the word while reading on websites. Such sort of programming makes text dynamic. In literary study, such software can be programmed / designed keeping readers needs in view. Suppose, we want to do analysis of ‘use of adjectives and adverbs by writer in novel’ – we ask software designer to prepare similar programme and running it on electronic text, we get result to do analysis.

I hope this makes the point clear.

Regards.

Yes, you have to write about four goals and five types in brief to discuss its important features. You can also write about ‘Identity’, ‘Everyday Life’, ‘Media culture’ & ‘Audience reception’ in the answer to discuss its features and characteristics.
