"How to Uncover the Next Generation of Solar Leaders
Taking a page from Industry and rethinking the training paradigm"

Sector Strategies has long been a theme in workforce development circles,
and especially so today in the energy sector. Many great training programs
result, but are you as pleased with the hiring results?  Too often our
ability to train in mass in a niche segments overwhelms the industry’s
ability to absorb the talent and ignores other training and placement
opportunities. Frankly, more training doesn’t lead to more jobs. Often
missing in the discussion is the employer and an understanding of the
demand-side needs. In a dynamic and rapidly changing industry segment, this
means using every technique possible to maintain a constant dialogue with
the employers. Forsaking this leads to oversupply and missed opportunities,
which has been a historic problem in solar PV and becoming a problem in the
energy efficiency sector as it develops.

> Join SolarTech in a discussion of how it partnered with the local

Workforce Investment Boards and community colleges to create a tightly
integrated and systematic process to identify employer needs, in real time,
and develop the right training at the right time. Learn about the Solar
Workforce Acceleration Method (Solar WAM).
