Michael Shuman is an economist, attorney, and author; this all-day workshop is designed to fuel the local investment revolution in our community and region. The day will explore in depth an array of innovative projects and models that can connect our local businesses and organizations with our local investors, lenders, and donors.
We'll look through the lens of State Street, rather than Wall Street, and learn how to meet regional needs with regional resources and identify the kinds of capital needed to get there. The workshop will be relevant to small business owners, local government officials, investors at all scales, philanthropists, economic development and finance professionals, community leaders, and citizens interested in "accelerating community capital" to build a local living economy.
Shuman is the author of three books: Local Dollars, Local Sense (2012), The Small-Mart Revolution (2006), and Going Local (1998).
