News Details - Public Workshop April 24 on Cleaner Greener Southern Tier
Tompkins County, in partnership with Southern Tier Central and Southern Tier East Regional Planning and Development Boards, is kicking off the Cleaner Greener Southern Tier – a new NYSERDA-funded regional sustainability plan. This plan is part of Governor Cuomo’s Cleaner, Greener Communities (CGC) Program.
This eight-month, eight-County plan will begin with a public workshop that will focus on identifying regional sustainability goals and priorities. Please come to our County’s public workshop next Tuesday April 24th from 6:30 – 8:30pm at the Town of Ithaca Town Hall, located downtown at 215 North Tioga Street. This public workshop will be one of four to be held across the Southern Tier region next week, along with 12 stakeholder focus groups and an initial meeting of identified community leaders who will participate in a consortium advisory group throughout the project.
With your help, a regional sustainability vision will be crafted that reflects local plans, goals, and priorities. The Cleaner Greener Southern Tier plan will address:
· energy and greenhouse gas emissions
· transportation
· land use and livable communities
· waste management
· water management
· economic development
· climate change adaptation and
· governance.
Priority projects identified in the Cleaner Greener Southern Tier plan will be eligible to apply for 2013 state implementation funding.
