Savefile syncing Windows VGBA to Android VGBA

Hello! In my attempt to sync the save files/states between my laptop and android phone I'm struggling to load either way. Is there a difference in formats or default HW-settings? I am unable to get any .sav or .sta belonging to unit A to load in unit B or the other way around.
