The included Gamepad support (vgba on sgs2 + iControlPad)

When using an iControlPad on vgba, I have to continously tap the
phone's display for the screen not to power off. Also, it seems like
this emu is not "gamepad friendly" while mapping buttons to the
gamepad. However, thanks to the included Xperia Play support most of
the buttons are mapped correctly (I'm using the BlueZ IME app to
initialize the iCP), but it seems hard to remap the buttons as the
settings menu does not recognize the iControlPad buttons in the
mapping-configurator.

I am not sure how iControlPad works. Is there a technical document
that a developer can look at?

It seems pretty straight foreward :-)
