Emacs+ doesn't seem to work for me on Eclipse Juno. Known problem?

Juno is not supported. There are several (if not more) issues with it:

1) They've severely regressed the child binding mechanism (see https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=375762 and related)

2) They've redone the internal mechanism that is used for split-window, so that will require a re-write.

3) ? (Until 1 is fixed, additional problems remain undiscovered.)

Also, I have no plans presently to spend any significant time on this.

Does this mean that Emacs+ won't be available for future versions of Eclipse???

Personally, I don't see how an advanced human civilization can exist without it!

Not exactly....but there has been significantly less interest/support in/for Emacs+ for quite a while now, so it has devolved into more of a hobby.  Since I personally have no plans to migrate to e4 in the short term (and so far it appears to be buggier rather than better - but then I've barely used it), it's not high on my activity list.

I doubt that there is any less interest in Emacs+. I bet that zillions of people are just quietly and happily using it!

Well, today I submitted another blocking bug against the e4 (Juno) keybinging/handling code.  They seem to be singing that old song "keep the old bugs, but add the new" with Juno. Unfortunately they chose to rewrite large swathes of this code, and it doesn't appear to be fully tested.

And the UI is kinda ugly. That in itself wasn't enough, but lack of emacs+ sent me back to Indigo.

If anyone else is interested, I tried the workarounds listed in the bugs earlier in the thread, but I still couldn't get the key bindings to work.

For all of you who are impatient (or otherwise constrained) to use Juno, I have made an ALPHA version available.  If you visit http://www.mulgasoft.com/emacsplus/juno you will find additional information and a pointer to the juno update site.  It works well enough so that I am able to use Eclipse Juno as well (I am not just the author, I am also a customer). Note that I have filed a few issues against e4 Eclipse, which hopefully will be resolved before I am ready to release this.

Thanks for the great work! I have both "favorited" and donated to help
support this plugin.

I have a couple of random questions / bug reports (I am running under
Indigo on linux):

- forward-word and backward-word do not seem to cross line boundaries
whereas in emacs they would. Is this a bug or is there a setting I
have missed somewhere?

- some commands (I'm particularly thinking of back-to-indent) seem to
cause eclipse to scroll the buffer in the view, even though the
command only affects the contents of a single line (and in this case,
not even changing the contents). Sometimes it does it and sometimes it
doesn't, which is quite disconcerting. Any ideas?

- one thing I miss from emacs is rgrep to recursively search from a
starting directory. This could probably be accomplished by defining a
transient working set and then searching within it, but it would be
nice to be able to automate this somehow. I haven't used working sets
much because they aren't very streamlined - most of the commands that
operate with respect to working sets (e.g. declaration-in-working-set,
references-in-working-set, etc) bring up an annoying dialog rather
than just using the current working set. search-in-working-set seems
to be the exception.

- is the source code / repository for emacs+ available? (e.g. I'd like
to see the source for search-in-working-set to dip my toe into writing
some extra commands)

I (and others) have submitted bugs around the broken key scheme handling in Juno, but they have yet to be fixed.

As I hope you're aware, if you are forced to use Juno, there's an alpha version of Emacs+ (see: http://www.mulgasoft.com/emacsplus/juno).  The issues at the moment are less with changes to Emacs+ and more with bugs present in e4 Eclipse.  They've re-targeted an important one to 4.2.2 (i.e. SR2 - which, if I understand their schedule, is another 3 months coming).  Of course, there is no guarantee they will fix it (or some of the other outstanding ones) even then.  Independent plugins are barely on their radar.  Regards,
