Subject: Iowa Beef's Beef Challenge and Scholarship Program

Hello All,

If you a group of juniors/seniors interested in working in the Beef or Meats business, make plans to take them to Ames, IA on December 16, 2009. Note that the teams of 4 do not have to be from the same school. The event is being sponsored by the IA Cattlemen's Foundation and the ISU Department of Animal Science.

During the competition, there will be 10 stations:
1. Handling and Health
2. Nutrition
3. Marketing (Beef Cut Evaluation)
4. Seedstock Merchandising
5. Job Interview
6. Keep-Cull Replacement Heifers
7. Reproduction
8. Beef Management Challenge
9. Credit and Finance
10. Beef Industry Issues (Advocacy)

The top 4 teams will be awarded scholarships. The champion team will split $3,000. Reserve will be awarded $2,250. 3rd place will divvy up $1,500 and the 4th place team will receive $900. The top individual at each station will also receive a plaque.

Entry deadline is November 2nd with a $200 entry fee. They are only accepting 20 teams.
