Subject: Avatar upload error

Hey am new in elgg and currently using 1.8.8 version. My problem is when
uploading an avatar, images with less memory can be uploaded but when i try
to upload one with memory say,10mb or so,a white page appears but the
avatar doesn't.Only the previous avatar with less memory is displayed. The
funny thing is the when i go to the data directory, the large image i tried
to upload as an avatar is there. Please help me with this problem for i
would want my users to upload large images and get displayed as avatars.
Another thing is i haven't seen the feature where,in case a  user uploads a
file using the file plugin and it happens to be an image,s/he can set it as
his/her avatar without necessarily using the profile plugin.
Please help me with these errors asap.thanx

WSOD usually indicates a fatal error. You need to check your server's error log to see
what the error was.
