Subject: ElggComments for Elgg 1.9

There still seems to be some things that need to be decided before the
annotation comments can be migrated to ElggObjects in Elgg 1.9.

Including at least:

   - Should comments be a plugin or not
   - What kind of threading API is going to be implemented
   - How to handle upgrading of the annotations

When and how are these going to be decided? Does the core team still have
weekly meetings in IRC like it did some time ago?

Responses (my opinions) inline.

Not a plugin. I think there are places where Elgg core should be opinionated and this is one of them.

None in 1.9. Let the plugin market decide the best way.

AFAIK the plan is to have a script convert them several at time (latest to eldest) and triggered by cron and/or an admin. I imagine this would be an Ajax script that kept restarting itself.

No but I'd be happy to.

A little late to the party, but thought I'd confirm what Steve said. Any
progress on these issues?
