Does anybody know where I can get good instructions on how to
configure Learning Interaction components within Flash CS5? Adobe's
documentation is horrible. I understand SCORM communication, and some
AS3, but there seems to be no straight-forward explanation of how to
add LI components and configure them correctly within Flash.
Any help or references will be greatly appreciated

Does Flash 5.5 even have the learning interactions?

Do you mean Captivate 5.5?

the interactions are only included in the elearning suite. if you buy flash any other way, you will not receive the interactions.

What Phillip said. Only available in the elearning suite. While they
were available and configurable in the AS2 days, since AS3, Adobe has
apparently abandoned any and all documentation of them. The components
themselves have insufficient code within them to make them useful, and
I have been unable to locate a single example of one in use.

It seems rather disengenuous to list these things as a "feature" of
the elearning suite, without supporting that feature with
documentation or examples in any way. Very disappointing.

Just curious, are you referring to some extra support or built-in
managing of cmi.interactions that the Adobe products give you?
Because no matter what version of Flash, etc, you use, the
interactions are always accessible via the SCORM API. You would just
have to roll your own support for it.

take care,

Plus, with out a knock (too much) on Adobe, I never liked their built in
SCORM stuff -
I feel much more in control with using something like Pipeworks API and
creating a template that we can reuse over and over.

No.. It's not the external communication that is the issue.
Documentation on how to configure and utilize the components WITHIN
the SWF are what is totally lacking. I have no problem working with
the API.

Actionscript has nothing to do with SCORM and if you want to create SCORM compliant swf files, you need to implement the "ExternalInterface" object in order to communicate with the  SCORM API object.

I've just installed E-learning Suite 2.5, which has installed some E-learning Interactions into Flash automatically (6 Quiz project templates and an E-learning Interactions library in the Common Libraries section). I hadn't actually noticed these assets - so thanks for mentioning them. They apparently work only in AS3 projects, and feature LMS (SCORM) API functionality.
The best documentation I can find (which looks reasonable, at first sight), is a PDF for the 2.0 library here:

Hope that helps someone...

Hi guys,

I know I'm joining this conversation late, but in response to Alan, sorry to say that the documentation is absolutely bloody useless.

Cheers

Hello Andrew,

did you ever find good documentation on how to use and customise the Learning Interactions in Flash? If you did, could you provide some pointers because I've been looking also.

Cheers

Carl
