Hi Bicho

Learn more about SCORM at scorm.comhttp://scorm.com/scorm-explained/

A simple example for the pipwerks wrapper is at http://pipwerks.com/2008/05/08/adding-scorm-code-to-an-html-file/

Hi Philip

pipwerks wrapper is a .js to make a document a valid SCORM object?

This is my problem:

i have a LMS and we need integrate with scorm objects,
first we need a player, later we need to consume the scorm API to integrate with database, i am thinking in pipwerks to integrate this service

you think my approach is wrong?
you know about a existing tool to helpme about this goal?

Thanks by answers and directions

The pipwerks wrapper is specifically for content -- it helps content developers add SCORM support to their course. It's just a helper, similar to jQuery for DOM manipulation; you can use SCORM without the pipwerks wrapper, but the wrapper makes it easier and takes care of a few issues automagically.

If you need to add SCORM support to an LMS, the pipwerks wrapper is not going to help you.

You can check out some open-source LMSs to see how they integrated SCORM. Claude Ostyn (who passed away a few years ago) has a sample SCORM Run-Time on his site, it might help you understand how SCORM works and give you a starting point for your system. http://ostyn.com/standards/scorm/samples/scorm2004testwrapwrap.htm

Hi Bicho

If you have an LMS you need to add SCORM functionality to, I'd suggest that purchasing a tool to handle this is your best bet - for example: http://scorm.com/scorm-solved/scorm-engine/

I would not try and implement SCORM yourselves, as an e-learning developer I have worked with many companies who have created their own LMS and attempted to implement SCORM themselves, it's almost always a total disaster and I generally immediately increase my development costs to cope with the inevitable problems it creates!

Hope this is helpful
