Hi, group.

Trying out the framework. Looks very good so far. One problem I
encountered is with transparent png under ie6. Doesn't seem to be able
to handle. When I tried that with blueprint - it did. So I'm wondering
is the feature not part of the framework and I should just use a hack,
or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks
Nick

I don't know but may be blueprint includes a js to fix the
transparency issues whit IE6.

Still you can use whatever js lib along with elastic to fix these
problems:

You can try this out.

Cheers.

Thank you for clarification Sergio. I will look into that. But I was wondering since Elastic already uses .js wouldn't it be nice to include a png fix?

Actually Elastic is committed to layout structure, not solving every cross browser issue, ie6 should be dying by now.
This is the reason elastic does not provide png transparency solution for IE6.

Fernando,
I agree that ie6 must die, but here is the dilemma. At my company for internal users - we have controlled environment: FF3 ( FF@ on older windows 2000 machines that we have to ahve around for this or that reason), so internally as long as something is standards compliant it will work for us, and our internal apps are all css & html valid with little js.

But for example my company's website - had ~ 66000 visits since Jan 2009. That's a site that is limitted to our clients only - who are 98% car dealerships. Out of them, according to google analytics, 98%  are Internet Explorer users. And 54% were IE 6.0. So in total 50 % of clients in our case have I.E.  It's impossible for us to ignore it - so we have to work around it.  If you look at tech sites thou - you'll find out that they say anywhere from 30 to 80 % are FF users. It may be true for them - but they cater to very narrow segment of the market. For this framework to be used thou for any kind of website - it needs to be cross-browser compatible. I agree that maybe png fix doesn't belong in the main framework , but what about a plugin?

Definitely, we shall think on a plugin system.
