You should see a message:

Welcome to an eduMOOC-related brainstorming site. You can propose ideas or vote for other people's ideas.

Below that is a question

What are the key issues regarding affordability?

with two proposed answers. Pick one of the two. That's a "vote" for that answer.
You'll be shown two more answers. Pick the better of the two.

Think you've got a BETTER answer than the ones presented?
Pick the button which reads

Enjoy!

Interesting survey design.

I was "cornered" several times with repetition of the qualified faculty option versus other choices (example laptop costs) and had to make an effort to look for an alternative option.

Perhaps that is why the votes for qualified faculty were so high?

Just a thought ...

an interesting tool but... still, somehow not the same as a thoughtful discussion and sifting of opinions

I had the same feeling about the choices ... how is the branching designed? Also there was a dissonance I can't quite put my finger on. I expected the priority question to rank higher and think it could have done with elaboration - vague, would not mean the same to all brainstormers. Helps to agree on terms before you start.

Also breaking the process into more questions might work better, e.g. sort out tech costs - hardware, access, apps / software, obsolescence problems separately ~ ditto "human" (also breaking down faculty factors in more segments). What about maintenance? Upgrades/obsolescence issue might fit here.  PD is maintenance for faculty

Sorry for rambling... mostly impressions here that I wanted to get down while fresh in my mind

VERY interesting tool. thanks for sharing it. I can't wait to think
about a way to test it for myself.

Since the topic of this thread is affordability, thought you might be
interested in a discussion that will happen today at 1pm EST. sorry
about posting it so late.

Alexandra, I hope you got as much out of the webcast today as I did.
The archived presentation is available here:
http://nextgenlearning.org/the-community/archived-events.

Very interesting! Between this report and some of Ray's writing and
resources, I'm beginning to believe that there truly is a sea change
coming in higher ed. I see so many people fighting it; it feels like
the ocean receding before the tsunami comes in, and I've been staring
at the receding ocean...

The report's available here: http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/2011/02/disrupting_college.html.
