Here's a brief report back:
About 120 students and workers picketed outside the highest
administrative office on November 10. The event was organized by the
UWM Education Rights Campaign, a coalition we organized of 16 student
and labor organizations.
We had speakers from the professor’s union, the teacher assistant
union, AFSCME local 82, Students Equalizing Rights Forever, Black
Student Union, Milwaukee SDS, and author and lecturer Michael
Parenti.
We began with a picket through student rush hour, ended with the
speakers, and then lead a march of about half the crowd to the doors
of the Chancellor's building and sent in three representatives up to
his office to deliver the demands (he was "out to lunch"). We got less
press, but were covered by student press and the city newspaper.
