I suspect he is Liberal first and monarchist second.

At the same time, I think it demonstrates the strength of
our democratic system in that such a resolution can be
debated.
And I do like the way the Conservatives have worked to
strengthen some of our institutions. For example,
instructing Canadian embassies and consulates to hang
pictures of the Queen and returning "Royal" to the branches
of our armed forces.
