He should be used to that by now. His head's made of the stuff.

As a wholly disinterested observer of this interminable exchange of
verbal hostilities I often find myself wondering who is the organ
grinder... who the monkey. As he seems to have everyone from Eudyptes
Solaris to the Gran-Demoan of Monkery dancing to his tune, I can only
conclude that Yads has the upper hand by a very considerable margin.

Pay close attention to the subthread about the puppies, and that
should answer your question.

I like using Yads to sort out my own feelings on complex issues. He's
so obtuse that I have to take the ideas bubbling through my head and
break them down into their simplest elements to help him understand.
Which of course helps me understand them better, and can lead to some
surprising results (e.g. the digression about faith vs deeds).

Trust me. When it stops being fun or useful, I'll stop it.

To be honest, I tend to get those Old Testament prophet types mixed
up. I'm sure I have read him, but I can't remember what makes him
different from all the others.

Of course, that's another difference between evangelical sects and the
mainstream. Evangelists tend to go for weird dispensational exegesis
of the prophets, and end up attaching too much importance to the
prophecies as a result. So even if I did remember the passage you
were talking about, I probably wouldn't agree with your interpretation
of it anyway.

She didn't seem to mind having the entities in there, once she was
past the initial shock. She definitely wasn't suffering in a way
similar to crucifixion. And like I said, I wouldn't've expected that
kind of blasphemy from you of all people.

Irrelevant, because you didn't successfully explain what you think is
the main difference between a sacrifice and a good deed. That's your
fault. Not Moffat's.

Blasphemy?

The entities were suffering a state of pain , so is humanity.

Recall Christ did not have to give up his Divinity. He made

As well, here in the western world, having someone kill puppies is a
way of painting them as being somewhat evil. Wasn't something like
that one of the things that was used to make the villian a villian in
"101 Dalmatians"? The desire to get rid of the dogs?

Getting rid of the dogs wasn't the agenda. Turning them into an
overcoat was the plan.

Spare me your attempts to be coy, I have read the Narnia series several
times and I am well aware that it was C.S. Lewis attempt to explain theology
to his children

However you have failed (big surpise) to answer my question

Ummmmm Rowling (note the spelling) was not attempting to explain theology to
anyone but thanks for playing.

Your ignorance is shining brighter then a neon sign. Since you have never
read the Harry Potter series, how can you come up with this conclusion? Or
was it your "church" that declared her a "soceress"

But J.K. Rowling (not Rawlings) isn't trying to explain theology to
anyone. Unlike Lewis, she wasn't writing an allegory.

How can he maintain his state of blissful ignorance if he actually did some

If this is the kind of "authority" you base your life on, I feel truly sorry

You do have a mind don't you and perhaps your are capable of independent

No it isn't. There is no suggestion in the books that witchcraft is a
religion. If anyone writing about magic is a magician, then presumably
J.R.R. Tolkien (a good friend of C.S. Lewis BTW), the Brothers Grimm and
Hans Christian Anderson, to name a few, were all wizards. Writing a work
of fiction in which there is working magic does not make you a magician,
any more than writing crime fiction makes you a criminal.

Because it suited his purpose not to? (Though some of us might think
that rising from the dead is pretty magical, being something that
appears incapable of being explained by science, which is pretty much
the definition of "magical".)

You're basing your argument on some webpage that you came across, not
