Hi folks,

Details below of a forthcoming Pentlands Walking Festival in July.

Pentland Walking Festival

The Ridge Walk
Thursday 19th July

A circular walk over the five main peaks in the Pentland Hills, with
fantastic views over the Lothians and down to the Borders.

Meet: Flotterstone Information Centre
Time: 9.45am – 4.15pm
Bring: Sturdy footwear, waterproofs and lunch
Booking: Essential
Cost: Donations Welcome
Grade of Walk strenuous, 10 miles (17km), 846m ascent

Suitable for over 16’s

Teddy Bear Adventures
Thursday 19th July 2012
Location: Harlaw House Visitor Centre
Time: 10:30 - 12:00
Barnaby the Pentland bear is going on an adventure. He is looking for
young explorers to join him on his journey through Harlaw Woodland.
Meet: Harlaw House Visitor Centre
Bring: Teddy Bear and wellies
Booking: Essential
Grade of Walk: Easy, 1 mile (1.6km), negligible ascent
Suitable for children under 6 years old. All children must be
accompanied by an adult.
Cost: Donations Welcome



Walk for Health
Friday 20th July

Take a gentle stroll around Harlaw Reservoir, enjoying spectacular
views of Harlaw Reservoir through the trees, Black Hill, Turnhouse and
West Kip in the distance. Children can take part in the Harlaw
Biodiversity Trail, as we walk around the reservoir.

Meet: Harlaw House Visitor Centre
Time: 1.00pm – 3.30pm
Bring: Sturdy footwear, waterproofs and Binoculars if you have them.
Booking: Essential
Cost: Donations Welcome
Grade of Walk: Easy, 2 miles (3.5km), negligible ascent

Suitable for all age groups
All children must be accompanied by an adult

The Northern Exposure
Friday 20th July .

Walk over three of the highest hills in northern range of the Pentland
Hills. Experience fantastic views of the Lothians and learn about the
history of the area.

Meet: Hillend Country Park, Lower Car Park (by the number 4 bus
terminus)
Time: 10.15am – 2.00pm
Bring: Sturdy footwear, waterproofs and lunch
Booking: Essential
Cost: Donations Welcome
Grade of Walk: Strenuous, 6.5 miles (11km) 650m ascent

Suitable for over 16’s

Reservoir Round
Saturday 21st July

Walk a circular route which visits seven of the Regional Park's
reservoirs. Discover their history and maybe see some wildlife too.

Meet: Threipmuir Car Park
Time: 10.00am – 4.00pm
Bring: Sturdy footwear, waterproofs, and lunch
Booking: Essential
Cost: Donations Welcome
Grade of Walk: Strenuous. 13 miles (20km), 540m ascent.

Suitable for over 16’s.
