Arctic Express Coming Back on through next week

Dear Folks,

Just when we have been lulled into a warm spring-like hmmmmm moment
these last few days --

The long-range forecast is showing overnight temps in the high 20s to
most of the valley locations beginning around Friday the 13th -
figures doesn't it!

Give or take a day or so, make sure to plan for protecting all the
tender plants. Sustained high 20s can produce killing freeze.

We get these kinds of patterns each year and some years they can be
devastating if the cold happens AFTER peach tree and other stone
fruits begin to bloom. Happily this one looks like it will happen
before tree bloom, but young citrus and many otherwise happy plants
like the cabbage and mustard family could be hit hard.

If you have tomatoes and basil which have been doing okay, they will
probably not make it if the temps go as low as predicted.

Watch for overnight forecasts beginning Monday.

The good news is that kind of cold tends to kill off a lot of the pest
bugs too :-)
