Several private citizens are being harassed by Tom Murphy under the Save Jerry Garcia Amphitheater petition as stated below.  I agree, the amp should be saved, from Tom Murphy.

I, along with several park advocates are trying to bring activity to McLaren Park and now are being bullied.  I am not interested in what name is attached to anything.  I hope to bring the community some participation and enjoyment in our own backyard.

I demand this childish harassment stop immediately.  Even the organization hosting his terror attacks states that I am being "targeted".  I do not need to read why somebody from anywhere in the world have signed his petition.  I consider this a form of bullying and spam.

If I was neutral before his harassment, then he has helped to convince me that any assistance I might have given to his Jerry Day in the past, is just that - passed.

This is for those who are not public officials, yet in Tom Murphy's world are road blocks to his agenda, be warned, if he has your email address be ready to be spammed.

Dear May Wong,

Save Jerry Garcia Amphitheater started a petition "Save JGA: Retain the name and preserve the Jerry Garcia Amphitheater." targeting you on Change.org that's starting to pick up steam.

Change.org is the world's largest petition platform that gives anyone, anywhere the tools they need to start, join and win campaigns for change. Change.org never starts petitions on our own -- petitions on the website, like "Save JGA: Retain the name and preserve the Jerry Garcia Amphitheater.", are started by users.

While "Save JGA: Retain the name and preserve the Jerry Garcia Amphitheater." is active, you'll receive an email each time a signer leaves a comment explaining why he or she is signing. You'll also receive periodic updates about the petition's status.

Here's what you can do right now to resolve the petition:
Sincerely,
Change.org

Thank you for your comments, however, my information was not authorized by me for publication on any web site or petition site.  Several private citizens were added to the site's list, probably without permission.  Why should I contact Tom Murphy.  I doubt highly that he had no knowledge of the notification list.

If you wish to speak to him, please call him.  I do not wish to converse with him via electronic device, written letter or verbal conversation.  By this bully act, he has closed all doors of communication.  I do not feel an invasion of my privacy is a way to start a dialogue.

Would you like to be in our position with unwanted emails filling your in box?

I put this information out on the EDIA pilot to give our community a heads up, by trying to do something good for our community, Tom Murphy will pop up and bully you to stop or let him take it over.  Besides, the ones that do care about the park, don't just talk about it.  We live here.  We pull the weeds.  We support mutual support of the many groups working on events in the park.

Tom Murphy does one event a year, Jerry Day.  No work days, no collaborating with others.

The mailing below looks like a function of the change.org website software.   It's probably the case that Tom isn't even aware these mailings are going out on behalf of the JGA petition he set in motion.

May, did you contact Tom directly already?  Maybe there's check box on the system he could go back in and click that would turn off these auto-sends.

Change.org is like this.  I once had a petition on that site (over two years ago) that's long since moot and to this day I still receive mailings about every "viral" petition on their system, asking me if i want to sign, almost all of which are totally irrelevant to me.

My recommendation is that you call Tom and let him know what's happening.

Carlin

An organization notifying you of support on a project is not harassment or bullying.   You should expect that if you and a few people are trying to push a major project through.  Especially with no transparency and trying to change the name of an international music icon who grew up in the same neighborhood that you "represent."  You have no idea what went into that project 12 years ago, and quite frankly - doesn't seem like you care. And the direction it was headed.  We are in the process of pushing those efforts back at least 15 years if this proposal goes through. If you wish to know why feel free to give me a call.  Or better yet get in contact with the Garcia family and better understand the amount of philanthropy that is potentially coming down the pipe.  Films, Books, etc.  It hasn't even begun.  Has anyone pushing this proposal decided to do that?  Or even cared?  The answer is no, they haven't.

In addition to that, and hopefully you listen to it at last night's meeting, there are major major major challenges with that Levitts proposal.  Anyone who understands the cost of programming, challenges to the park's infrastructure, challenges of fundraising, night programming, parking, security, costs,  etc - would completely understand.  Who's going to raise the 2 million to re open as Levitt Pavilion?  Where's that coming from, the bond money?  Is that what you and your associates have lined up?  Or a few thousand pancake fundraisers?  Please feel free to share.

And - as it was reiterated last night many many times,  the levitts proposal is simply not a good fit.  This coming from Jo Coffey - the founder of Friends of McLaren Park - the first activist group and many people in the audience.  All of them living right by the park.  But that all doesn't matter because seems like the decision has been made between your associates and rec park.  And the ones making the decision, you have to ask, do they have the experience, know how, and connections to pull this off?  or understand what this entails.  My answer would be No.

As for our groups mobilzation efforts, it's only begun.  It's been two to three weeks. And it's growing.  All from the neighborhood.   That being said, we are now starting to realize that this is going to the rec park commission in July.  Of course, there was no mention of that at last nights meeting.

Thanks for that.

Anyways, give us the name of your "group"  that supports the project and the contact info, and we'll happily update the change.org account.  Thank You.

Good Night

ps - who do i talk to about co-chairing the next McLaren Park Collaborative meeting?

May,
I just saw this message this morning.

I am very sorry this is happening. I told Tom that this hurts his cause, and the cause of the rest of us who want to see Jerry Garcia's name remain on the amphitheater. Since I had nothing to do with setting up this targeting, I can't apologize, but be assured I think you and the others who have been targeted deserve an apology.

Please let me know if you are still getting this spam. Perhaps there is a way to stop it through Change.org. I have to say I'm somewhat surprised they give people such a weapon.

This has been completely taken care of.  If there's a community group with contact info who actually supports this project please let us know at Sav...@gmail.com and we could send the information to that particular group.

At this moment we don't know of a community group, just individuals.  Thanks.

Have a good weekend.

Thanks,

Tom
