We look forward to working with the bright young people of our neighborhood, and we are happy to answer any questions. For more information, please e-mail geneva...@gmail.com.

Our Mission
In the OMI and Excelsior neighborhoods, we have the largest number of children and youth, the lowest per capita income of any district and the largest number of foreign born heads of households. Many San Francisco residents take their youth-centered resources for granted, whereas in our area we have greater need and fewer resources available to us or any other non-profit or community group. Shouldn’t the greatest proportion of San Francisco youth get first-class resources?

Early on, private funders told us that offering classes would be worthwhile, but they felt that the lead responsibility to restore this City-owned landmark building was not theirs but the City’s. Our city leaders need to get serious about their involvement with the Car Barn. The City should be working with the Car Barn supporters, neighborhood leaders, and private funders; pessimism should not hold us back. Every San Franciscan who can envision a useful and vibrant Car Barn Community Center should be onboard.

Let’s get this long-delayed rehab moving and done with. It was in January of 1999 that then-Mayor Willie Brown directed city agencies to cease demolition efforts and work with the community to save and use the Car Barn for community needs. It’s now 2013. The future of our community starts here. Join us.

Board President
