Rudsambee choir is looking for a fourth tenor to join us - starting now!
We have exciting plans, including a varied Christmas season, three
concerts on a Northern European theme with a visiting Danish choir next
May and a tour of the Scottish Highlands in early July. We're trying to
find someone who can sight-read reasonably well (or pick things up quickly
by ear), likes performing, is interested in exploring different areas of
music, and can manage weekly rehearsals on a Wednesday evening.

If some of these apply to you, please read on.

For your information: we are an 18-strong Edinburgh-based group with
wide-ranging repertoire (Medieval onwards, traditional and composed, from
many parts of the world, including many compositions and arrangements of
our own). Performances over the last year include the Scottish National
Portrait Gallery, Rosslyn Chapel, the Peebles Arts Festival, the Swallow
Theatre in Galloway, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and St Giles
Cathedral. We have also won a competition, been broadcast on BBC Radio
Scotland and have recorded one cassette and one CD, both of which are
selling well.

Most voices in the choir are untrained but we have worked together now for
several years and have good ensemble and a fresh, unfussy sound. We
really are unusual in the range of music we do and the fact that we
produce so much of our own material. Our audiences like us - we generally
get invited back wherever we go.

We meet on Wednesdays in Morningside from 8 pm till about 10.15, when we
break into the biscuits. There are currently 6 sopranos, 5 altos, 3
tenors and 4 basses, of whom one tenor is probably leaving after
Christmas.

If you are interested or would like to know more, please get in touch with
Sheena Phillips (director of Rudsambee) on 0131-620 0213.
