A long overdue initiative taken by GREEN DISCOVERY LAOS

GREEN DISCOVERY LAOS, committed to the principles of Corporate Social
Responsibility (CSR), recently launched the GREEN CARE Fund.
This new private and independent Lao nonprofit fund is dedicated to
promoting awareness of nature conservation among Lao urban youth and
their teachers. For that purpose, the Fund finances 2 or 3 day camping
and fun outings with teenagers from secondary schools into forests of
protected areas, where they are lectured on environmental issues by
environmental professionals.
A first 2-day pilot trip took place early May 2011 in the ‘Phou Khao
Khouay’ NPA with 25 young children from a Vientiane secondary school.
The excursion proved to be very successful and is hopefully the first
of a long series. The trip was financed by a donation from the Swiss
Development & Cooperation Agency through TABI (The Agro-biodiversity
Initiative).
With the objective of a dozen trips per year, The GREEN CARE Fund is
currently looking for partners such as INGOs, embassies as well as
individuals willing to offer educational and fun trips to young Lao
students and spread useful knowledge about nature thanks to a hands-on
and on site experience.
The GREEN CARE Fund also offers international and national
corporations an ideal way to be part of the effort towards ‘education
and nature conservation in Laos’.
We are looking for all kind of partnerships since the GREEN CARE Fund
aims to complement already existing private and public institutions’
work.
