Dear friends of Eclipse Rising,

As you know, Eclipse Rising comes together to achieve a more peaceful community for Zainichi and others alike in Japan and the region, as well as with the bigwigs like the United States. A key requirement for that, we believe, is, first and foremost, ending the war on the Korean peninsula that's still in effect - going on! (yes, little do we notice, it's not 2 wars we're fighting - but THREE!)

Please support call for support from Paul Liem, one of the co-founders of the Korea Policy Institute that is doing amazing work to advocate for the end of the Korean War - and his partner, Deann who in her own right is an amazing filmmaker and advocate for peace, for the sake of our collective future.

If you're interested in joining with Eclipse Rising to support (or walk along!), please contact us!

Walkathon for the Korea Policy Institute

Sunday November 15, 2009 1:00 pm

Hi all,

On Sunday, November 15, 2009 at 1:30 pm Deann, Nick and I will be doing a “walkathon” fundraising event to benefit the Korea Policy Institute (www.kpolicy.org).  We will do an 8 mile hike, RAIN OR SHINE, starting from the Marina Green in San Francisco, over the Golden Gate Bridge and back.  It’s a beautiful 8 mile trek and a great way to shed some of the stress resulting from ongoing tensions in U.S. - D.P.R.K. relations.  We ask that you sponsor us, per mile, with a tax-deductible donation to the Korea Policy Institute, or even better, join us.

Please circulate this flyer to any of your friends who may be interested in supporting the work of the institute.

To realize the goal of creating a nuclear free zone on the Korean peninsula it is imperative that the U.S. and DPRK sign a peace treaty ending the Korean War.  Yet even with bilateral talks on the horizon tensions remain high between Washington and Pyongyang, and the well-being of North Korean citizens remains at risk due intensified U.S. led sanctions.  In the upcoming year we need to continue to raise our voices and let it be known that peace, not sanctions, is the key to demilitarization, reconciliation and prosperity on the Korean peninsula.  It is time, long overdue, to end the Korean War.

Click on the links below (way below) for more information.

If you wish to sponsor us please make your check payable to the “Korea Policy Institute” and mail it to us at 2960 Hillegass Avenue, Berkeley, CA 94705.  If you wish to gather your own sponsors and join us on the walkathon, please let us know and we will send you detailed instructions on where to meet up.

If you wish to be placed on the email list to receive the latest articles, policy briefs, interviews, and information on forums sponsored by the institute, please also let us know.

Every little bit helps and is greatly appreciated!

Many thanks for your support.
