Load difference 11.04 LTS vs. 12.04 LTS
|
| |
Hello all,
I'm posting here, since we're seeing a difference between load on
machines. We've a setup with 5 webnodes behind an elastic load
balancer. We recently created a new 12.04 webnode, and the behaviour
is different:
- Load on the four 11.04 LTS nodes is almost identical.
- Load on the single 12.04 LTS node which is built with the same... more »

12.04 not listed as LTS in Ubuntu AMIs menu
|
| |
Just to verify, my understanding is that there is only one server
version of Ubuntu 12.04 and it is LTS. However, on the alestic page
it is not listed as LTS as 10.04 and 8.04 are. Before beginning to
migrate to the new image I wanted to ensure that this is the LTS image
and not a shorter term support version of 12.04 I haven't heard of.... more »

easy to reproduce as these are stock images
1) over TWENTY MINUTES to create an instance with 8 4GB volumes attached.
(yes I know this likely an EC2 issue as I cannot spot the delay in the
console log)

mirrors moving to S3
|
| |
I currently use apt-mirror and mirror off [link] for lucid. When this changes to S3 do you foresee any issues with apt-mirror or apt-get on the clients connected to the apt-mirror box? I can also do some testing if I can get the EC2 dns name for the new mirrors on S3. I need to be able to... more »

upgrade cloud-init, use new AMI, or change apt config manually
|
| |
Hi Ben, I have several Lucid-based AMIs deployed in the field, i.e. outside my control, some of which have "unattanded upgrades" enabled. I'd like to clarify what's the expected behavior, is it one of these options, or something else: 1. They will automatically upgrade cloud-init and will run happily ever... more »
