It is ever appropriate to submit a checklist that includes an
occurrence of a dead bird? This might include a checklist with just one
species found dead but of interest for some reason, or a checklist of
live birds but also including a species found dead that was not
otherwise noted at the location on the particular occasion. Sometimes
once can tell if a bird is very freshly deceased or not. Does that make
any difference?

Hi David et al.:
I do this on occasion, but only if the record is of interest and the death
looks fresh, i.e. probably happened on that day.  I wouldn't report a dead
bird on eBird if it had clearly been dead for more than a day or two, since
that would mess up the "occurrence day" part of eBird reporting.  The only
other caveat is that it would count toward your listing totals, so you'd
have to keep that in mind if the accuracy of those lists is important to
you.
