I was expecting to see more activity once Play 2.0 announced that it
was using Ebean. However, no update since March? Is Ebean still
active?

definitely not dead but you are correct we are not pushing out as many
updates as we did in the past.
Many of the contributors have been very busy lately - especially Rob
so I think that probably explains it a bit.
I have noticed recently more people are posting questions here so I
think the community is growing but I think we need to present a
development plan for Ebean in 2012 to give the community a better idea
where we are heading. Any suggestions, contributions etc welcome!

I'm seeing the Play guys asking for clarifications and help with usage.
I do not see them asking for new features, so there's no reason for more activity on the Ebean side.

There's activity on the list, including from the project devs.
So it's not dead.

That said, Ebean does not have corporate backing, so progress is limited to what can be done as the devs find free time.

sorry short correction - latest release is 2.7.4 from Oct 12th. The
Website hasn't been updated up the MVN repo should include 2.7.4 and
the downloads page contains the 2.7.4 jars

I was trolling a little bit. "Dead" is to strong a word, I can see
the community is still active.

I would still argue that a library that is pushing a year without an
update, doesn't seem actively maintained. IE no code is that perfect.

I find that surprising considering that the project recently found a
new champion.
