'The Butter Burger' Century, May 27th Monday

EBC Cycling Enthusiasts: Join me for an artery clogging adventure to America's Dairyland on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27th. This is the last ride in a series to prepare you to ride 100 miles. This ride will leave from Panera in Wilmette at 7:10am, and the ride will be at a 'fast'/'fast plus' yet friendly pace. The peloton may amicably split into two groups. We will pass by the sometimes invisible 'Great Pyramid of Illinois' (hh/jm) with its Egyptian statues and artifacts. By special arrangements, the pyramid will be visible on Monday however, and it is a sight to behold! And, before you can say my-o-myocardial infarction, we will be dining at Culver's on their famous Butter Burgers in pastoral Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. Then, as the angina sets in, we will return home. I am cancelling tonight's dinner ride due to the cool and windy conditions. If this were a daylight ride, I would let it stand, but it's only going to get colder as the sun sets.

I called Centennial Ice Rink today and the person who takes reservations for the tennis club told me that the building is only accessable to tennis club members. Last week, we started the ride from there but the building was closed. Let's start at Panera until further notice.

Maybe this will be a welcome to spring . Come join us as we journey up to Panera at Route 176 at the low end of moderate pace (about 13 mph). We'll travel through the Botanic Gardens, Ridge Ave, skirting Lake Forest Hospital. Returning via the McClory Bike Path and Ft. Sheridan route. Probably back around 2 PM... more »

I've checked with the usual weather agencies and there are some disagreements regarding when the rain will fall, and when the thunder and lightening will occur. The radar doesn't look good to me so I am cancelling this morning's ride.

Hi All, The ground is wet. The sky is totally overcast. There is a possibility of thunderstorms. Rain will be on and off. It is possible there will be a window to ride from 9 to 12 but I don't want to gamble with the possibility of lightning. So I'm not riding. Jim
