BUSINESS LICENSE AMNESTY WEEK,
HELP FOR BUSINESSES PLANNED THE WEEK OF MAY 21
Effort is part of Spokane: Open for Business month

As part of “Spokane: Open for Business” month, the City of Spokane will offer a business license amnesty program and business assistance each day during the week of May 21.
“This month, we are focused on our work to help the private sector,” says Mayor David Condon. “During the week of May 21, our businesses can get caught up on licensing requirements and seek out additional support.”
As part of the business license amnesty program, previously unlicensed businesses can apply for a license without interest or penalty. To be eligible for the interest and penalty waiver, previously unlicensed businesses must pay for all licenses due during the amnesty period and must not have been previously contacted by the City regarding business license requirements.
For businesses who have been referred to collections for past due licenses, the City will waive all collection fees. Businesses would pay only the amount the City referred for collection, including any penalties or interest charged before the account was sent to collections.
Business owners or representatives should come to the City’s Taxes and Licenses Department on the first floor of City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls Blvd., to take advantage of the amnesty week.
Additionally, the City and its local business organization partners will staff the City’s Business Help Center on the first floor of City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls Blvd., from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day to provide a variety of assistance and referrals.

Experts from Spokane Neighborhood Economic Development Alliance (SNEDA); Snap Financial Access; International Trade Alliance (ITA), the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), and the City will be able to field questions or make referrals about regulations, permitting, business marketing, business plans, financing, and more.
Businesses can drop in for assistance or can call the City’s Business & Development Services Department for a specific appointment at 625-6983. More information also is available at www.developingspokane.org.
