{{That is her, is it not?}}

L'bril didn't look up for a moment because he knew exactly who Reuth meant. He swallowed and put the letter aside, this one to his father. He tried to suppress the surge of sheer joy that bubbled up inside of him like spring water, sweet and fresh. Reuth purred softly in the back of his throat and L'bril put a cap on those feelings. He reached out and stroked Reuth's fire bronze head. There were sitting outside the barracks, a bit of free time to themselves. L'bril cleared his throat as he rose to his feet.

"Hey Remiel." he said, his blue eyes lifting to touch her face for a moment. Reuth joined his rider, flank pressed into his leg.

    "Li- er, L'bril!" Remiel exclaimed with some measure of excitement. She had not had much of a chance to speak to him at length since she had Impressed, and especially not since he had. He had always been such a good friend to her, one of her best friends at the weyr. Like many people, she had to stop herself from using his old name. She smiled brighter at the notion of having taken a name to honor his father. He was such a good man, a good friend. "It's great to see you and your bronze - he's beautiful! Handsome! Handsome, I mean. Reuth, isn't it?" she asked, just to be sure.

L'brils small smile belied the blooming rose of joy that expanded through his chest with a warm gush. Pride washed into his blue eyes that met her face, as if embolden by her praise of his beloved dragon. Reuth crooned warmly, awash in his rider's own pleasure and pride. The bronze knew he was under the scrutiny of someone important to his rider and arched his well oiled neck, his bronze hide rippling with a fiery hot flash of color.

"It is. Thank you. Reuth is flattered." L'bril said. The bronze peeled himself off from his rider's side and approached Remiel, sniffing the air around her and peering into her face in a slight mimic of a new hatchling's curiosity. Gently, almost shyly, he reached out to bum her hand with nose. Reuth turned to look at L'bril, arching his neck over his shoulder and wing.

{{She smells good.}}

[[She's a good friend.]] L'bril said, refusing to wonder about how good Remi might smell. [[Do you like her.]]

{{I think so. I know I do not dislike her.}} Reuth said and gave Remi's hand the smallest, almost shy lick across the knuckles.

"Ah, he does that. The licking. I hope you don't mind." L'bril said.

   "Oh, not at all! He's a sweetheart," Remi said, kneeling down to scritch his eyeridges and rub his headknobs affectionately. If he was willing to nudge and lick, she was not terribly worried about him snapping at her for being too bold. She was rather taken with the young bronze as it was, who somewhat reminded her of a puppy. Then again, L'bril sometimes reminded her of a puppy, too. A big, sweet, lovable puppy.

He was sweet and the praise made both L'bril and Reuth melt a little bit. Reuth dared to  lean against the touch of Remiel, purring deep in his throat and L'bril hoped that her queen would not take to jealousy over it. He had worried about her, about them both, yesterday when Xyxith had risen. He couldn't say why he was so worried other than the fact Eastern Weyr had a queen fight in it's history and even now the thought chilled his blood. He pushed it from his mind. Remi was safe, Linauth was fine and in beautiful health and Reuth was perfect. His father was healthy and proud of him. All was right with the world.

"Thank you. That means a lot to both of us." he said and a faint flush rose to his face.

{{She is very sweet herself.}} Reuth told L'bril.
